Charles and Letitia Shelby Todd House
Photo of four unidentified individuals in front of the Charles and Letitia Shelby Todd House.
The federal house on Eminence Pike, was built between 1831 and 1833 for Charles Stewart Todd and his wife Letitia. The land was given to Letitia in trust by her father, Governor Isaac Shelby, on what was referred to as Stockdale Farm. It is by far the most sophisticated early dwelling to survive in Shelby County. Letitia’s children sold the property in 1858 to Joseph Bird.
