Leave a Legacy

Leave a Legacy

Establish a special gift provision that will build on a legacy for the future.

Special gift provisions can be outlined in a will, given as gifts of assets, charitable income tax deductions or trusts established – all providing the opportunity to make a substantial and memorable contribution to the Shelby County Historical Society, while providing income/establishing tax benefits to you or your heirs.

Your efforts to help preserve Shelby County and Kentucky history can be realized through The Kentucky Local History Trust Fund. This is a tax donation option through the Kentucky Historical Society, in which Kentuckians can donate a portion of their state income tax refund to the fund by checking box 38f on their tax return. The fund supports local history organizations across the state, including activities like local history education programs, collections care, and publications. As the fund administrator, KHS has, to date, awarded 67 local history organizations with nearly $155,000 distributed across the Commonwealth. The Shelby County Historical Society can be one of them!

This is the type of funding that was used for the Skirmish Near Simpsonville Wayside Interpretive Marker. This marker was placed onsite to better interpret this incident near Simpsonville and provide more context to its significance.
