About The Events

Gathering of Descendants is Fort Boonesborough’s big Genealogy Day. It’s one BIG reunion – it is a chance for descendants of the settlers of Fort Boonesborough and 18th Century Kentucky to meet other family members. On hand will be various booths representing numerous historical and genealogical societies, museums, authors and family associations to assist in your research – and the Shelby County Historical Society will be one of them! We will be representing our own county’s Boone – Squire Boone, Jr. and his Painted Stone Station/Long Run Massacre event of Sept. 1781.

Sponsored by the Fort Boonesborough Foundation, the event takes place at Fort Boonesborough State Park, 4375 Boonesborough Rd., Richmond, KY 40475. Speakers are scheduled and visitors can also tour the 18th Century fort replica. Free shuttle bus from parking lot on Hwy. 388. Regular fort admission: Adults $8, Children 6-12 $5 and Children 5 and under are free.

Various authors will be present to sign books about early days of the fort, the people, and surrounding areas, as well as ongoing historical interpretation of the daily lives, chores, skills and trades of those who came here during that time
