About The Events
Our Annual Members’ Picnic will be held on Sunday, September 14th from 5 – 7 pm. As this is a special Members Only event, the location will be mailed to members.
Our special guest speaker will be Zachary Distel, Curator & Director of Collections for the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR). He will provide an update on the SAR Education Center & Museum project and share some of the latest acquisitions to the SAR Collection. The SAR Museum is currently under construction on Main Street in Louisville. It will include interactive galleries that will lead visitors on an unforgettable journey that spans the entire American Revolution. As an immersive visitor experience, the Museum will feature digital displays and large-scale multimedia productions, as well as exhibits from their extensive archival collection.
Zachary is a great asset to the history field. He has worked in the public history and museum fields for more than a decade, including experience at the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the Toledo Museum of Art, and the Frazier History Museum. Since joining the staff of the SAR in 2017, he has worked closely with the Library and Museum to advance the SAR Collection. A native of Tiffin, Ohio, Zac earned undergraduate degrees from Walsh University and master’s degrees from the University of Louisville.
Members are asked to bring a salad, side dish or dessert. Chicken, drinks, plates/utensils will be provided.
Such programs are a great reason to become a member!!
