Governor A. B. “Happy” Chandler dedicates Chandler Lake
Governor A. B. “Happy” Chandler, one of two men to serve two separate terms as governor of the Commonwealth, came to Shelbyville in 1956 to help dedicate what was originally called Chandler Lake. Seated immediately behind him are Paul Ratcliff, Rev. J. Edward Cayce, and Jesse Puckett. The name of the lake was subsequently changed to Guist Creek Lake following the election of Bert Combs as governor.
