
Dedication of new Shelby County High School
Governor Bert Combs, center, and State Finance Commissioner Robert Matthews Jr. were the principal speakers at the dedication of the new Shelby County High School in May of 1961. The trooper is Robert Howser, father of longtime circuit court clerk Kathy Nichols. Matthews became the first and only Shelby Countian to serve as Attorney General, from 1963 to 1967.
