
Ralph Waldo Emerson Gilbert
Attorney and politician, Ralph Waldo Emerson Gilbert was born in Spencer County in 1882. He found fame as a Shelby County judge, five-term U. S. congressman, and Kentucky State legislator. He died in 1939 in the midst of campaigning for the office of Lieutenant-governor.
