Benjamin Washburn’s home
Built in 1791, the Benjamin Washburn home on Bellevue Road near Cropper served as the home place for three generations of Washburns. The house, which stood in three counties (Shelby, Jefferson, and Fincastle), was built in simple, unornamented, Colonial style. It deteriorated to the point that it had to be demolished in the late 1970s.
