Poynter were in charge of Science Hill School in 1889. The school opened in 1825 and operated successfully for 114 years before closing in 1939. During that time it had only six individuals who helped oversee the instruction and training, including Julia Ann and John Tevis (1825-1870), Dr. Wiley T.
