The Shelby continues the tradition started by the founder, editor, Sherry Jelsma, of an annual historical society magazine. It will be available in multiple locations beginning the week of November 22nd including B&N Food Market, Bagdad and Little Mount Lavender Company, Simpsonville. In Shelbyville, shoppers can find The Shelby at The Paddock Coffee, Eats & Gatherings (Paddock CE&G), the Shelby County Historical Society, and Sixth & Main Coffeehouse, all on Main Street. The 166-page publication is $15.00 with all proceeds going to the historical society.
With articles from more than 30 authors, you’ll meet in the pages of The Shelby two students from Martha Layne Collins High School, Clara Grace Bell and Emma Swallows, who answer questions about eLearning through the pandemic. Learn about virtual teaching from kindergarten teacher Sally Pollett Zaring. Find out what organization invests millions annually in area schools to help students learn. Discover old pictures from the archives of the Shelby County Extension Office. Enjoy a few minutes of reading to meet people who care enough about you, our community and the history we share to research, preserve and write on moments in time worthy of noting.
